Hello all,
Hope you had another fun and eventful week in wargaming. For me not so much, had a bit of burn out at the start of the week. However the last few days have been fast paced painting of Orks (still of the Space Crusade Variety.) I have been watching a lot of videos from a speed painter on YouTube about painting with washes (Miguel Garcia Fernandez HeroQuest Series). The skin and shoulder pads have been painted with washes after a zenithal undercoat (kinda, probably too much white for that term). Once I decided on the rest of the colours for the Ork's clothing (Thanks for the Suggestion from my close friends Spud and Adam). Also from a meme about a stealthy Ork wearing purple... This is what I came up with:
Amazing the difference one colour makes to the look of a project, going from looking very unfinished to looking almost ready for the table. The boots were also painted using washes (although I think I might need to add another layer of Nuln Oil to them. Lastly for now some Leadbelcher for the metallic parts.
So until next week here is the last WIP shot of the unit:
Thanks
Dan (DeathBringa) Cain.

Welcome to the 11th Legion, join us as we record the progress of building our armies. Painting Update - Part 11
Today, its the rest of the cultists - lets kick things off with the heavy stubbers.
I was continually surprised and impressed by the level of detail on all these models. Every time I thought I had finished a particular stage on the squad, I would find another little detail hidden away somewhere. Although I'm sure a lot of these wouldn't be very visible painted or not, once I know its there - I have to do something about it! (This made painting the unit take even longer!)
(For some reason the flash liked these four!) To add a bit of variety I decided to use some spot colours on pipes / wires.
For the most part though, I have kept the colours fairly general for these models, so that I would be able to use them in any of my Chaos armies (Thousand Sons, Nurgle or World Eaters / Khorne) - though I think they will see the most use with Nurgle.
And finally, a shot of the whole squad (apologies for poorer resolution).

Painting Update - Part 10
Chaos time again. Today marks the completion of a unit that has been in the works for a long time - Chaos Cultists!
The unit was painted in stages - one colour at a time on all the models. This didn't get boring though, as I split the unit into mini batches of models that were alike, meaning that I could get a consistent finish on each one and also have a change after every 3-4 models.
The model at the front here was the very first one I did for the squad - several months ago! It is a bit frustrating that I can't remember how I got the base that colour!
Finally for today, the Cultist champion. Next time, the heavy weapons and remaining members of the unit. I'll also see if I can fit all of them into the same picture.

Painting Update - Part 9
More form the Knights Sanguine today, with a Librarian Dreadnought.
The blade of the force weapon was painted / inked blue first, before the top layer was painted on, leaving the blue in the recesses.
The hand holding the force weapon is the power fist I had left over from the Furioso (using the Venerable Dreadnought kit as that was the most suitable available at that time) I assembled several years ago.
From the other side...
...and finally, attack mode!
That's all for today,

Painting Update - Part 8
Today's offering is from my Knights Sanguine - a command squad - complete with 3 plasma guns.
The squad was built from the new tactical squad box. I have used the new 32mm bases for the command squad only. This makes them stand out more when compared to the rest of the army, and avoids the problem of mixed base sizes within other squads.
I had run out of apothecary arms for this model, and so constructed my own by combining a power fist and a cut-down chainsword.
I was quite pleased with how the champions sword turned out, and may well finish it off with a coat of gloss varnish at some point. The lightning effect is something I eventually plan to apply to all power weapons across my different armies (though in different colours).

Painting Update - Part 7
Back to Nurgle today, with the first of two squads of plague marines.
As previously mentioned, I went a lot heavier with the rust effects on these!
The scythe on the unit champion was made using another double handed axe handle (as with the biker champion), while the blade was actually from an empire wizard, with a lot of the details removed.

Painting Update - Part 6
More from the Tyranids this time, with the Exocrine nearing completion, as you can see below.
All that needs doing now is the gloss varnish on the bone / armour plates and flock etc on the base. Hoping to get that done soon and will be posting the result when it is.

Painting Update - Part 5
A bit of a break from Nurgle this week, to show some of the progress made with my Tyranids. First up, a winged Hive Tyrant.
The weapon is a twin-linked devourer, made from spare gaunt and warrior / tyrant arms and weapons. I have seen other conversions of this weapon that use the fleshborer hive arms (legs?) from the Tervigon / Tyrannofex kit, however I wanted my version to still be a recognisable version of the original weapon, simply up-scaled.
The bone armour plates were painted using my usual coats of red, white markings, red ink and gloss varnish. It is quite time consuming but I'm always pleased with the results - particularly with the bigger creatures!

To create the base, several pieces of cork tile were ripped up and layered on top of each other. The model was then pinned through the tail to the base.
Well, that's all from me today. Please let us know what you think through the comments or on our Facebook page.

Stormtalon Update
So, I've been hard at work on the Stormtalon for my Imperial Fists. The vehicle itself is now finished, with the metal areas tidied up and given a black wash (and some brown round the engine area). I also used pale yellow drybrushing paint for the edge highlights, which I am very pleased with. Here is the finished result:
Also, some of the internal details / work done on the pilot.
As usual, comments welcome! That's all for now,

Sternguard WIP
So, here are the new Sternguard I've been working on for my Imperial Fists. They are intended as extra to increase an existing squad to 10 men. As such, there are no combi-weapons on any of these - however, I couldn't resist doing something special for their guns.
Forge World all the way! It was important that these looked different to the bulk of my army, which is why I used the Mk4 armour set, along with the special bolters.

I'm currently undecided about whether to add all the ammo pouches, grenades and holstered bolt pistols to these models, though I did do this to the other Sternguard I built - this may be the deciding factor - Let me know in the comments whether you think this would be a good idea.
Well, that's it for now - please feel free to leave a comment below - the feedback is always appreciated! Check out our Facebook page for a few extra pictures I couldn't fit in here.

Just a quick update today with a couple of WIP images of my Imperial Fists Stormtalon. All the major work is done now, and its time for tidying up and small details.
As always, comments are welcome. I'm hoping to be back soon with another update, and some other interesting stuff I'm currently working on. Stay tuned...

Andy2d6's Mini Tournament BatRep part 1
HI all,
So I recently had the pleasure of going to Andy2d6's home for a post Christmas mini 40k tournament. I was joined on this journey by my good friend Spud Tate. Once there I met a charming guy called John was also playing.
I took my current favourite army the Eldar with me to face the armies of the Dark Angels (Andy), Tau (John) and Imperial Fists (Spud).
I was a very fun day and I played against Tau for the first time (well as the primary detachment). I had a great time and some very entertaining games as its always good to play new people.
Andy has produced some BatReps from the tournament, which you can see below:
This video is Dark Angels Vs Imperial Fists and Then Eldar Vs Tau, enjoy.

Blog Wars 6: Tournament Report and Army Slide Show
Hi all,
Well Blog Wars 6 has come and gone, and what a fun day it was. After everything was said and done ended up placing 13th, which wasn't terrible.
Here is a small report of the tournament and the day. And what tournament report would be complete without a slide show of some of the armies at the tournament.
Enjoy:

Dispatches from the front: week 6 - Actually on time! Winner.
Creidhnan: Apologies for the delay last week, obviously my blood sacrifice was deemed insufficient by the almighty Ne Twor Krail...
Let's get straight to the pictures (and handily avoid noticing that I've done no actual work myself...)!

Dispatches from the front: week 5 - Delayed by Chaos
Hello all,
Creidhnan has been waylaid by the powers of chaos, so I have chipped in to collate the progress of the 11th Legion this week (Hence why its late).
I have completed another episode in VLOG Road to Blog Wars, this time with a basing tutorial (if you can call it that) for my now completed (spoilers) WraithGuard:
TotalTyke hosted games night last week and it was Creidhnan to play Wazdak in preparation for blog wars.
So it was 1850 points a side below is a brief Battle Report by Creidhnan:
Creidhnan: This week I had a quick game using the new Space Marine Codex, against Wazdak and his Nurgle Chaos.
Rough lists!
Space Marines (Imperial/Crimson Fists)
Pedro Kantor
Chaos Space Marines (with Chaos Daemon allies)
Chaos Lord (Nurgle)
2x Helldrakes with Baleflamer (ulp!)
Daemon prince, wings, Psyker (level 2?)
High(/low?)lights:
Thunderfire cannon eats squads - especially when you finally figure out how the barrage rules work!
The Daemon Prince made himself toughness 8 (immune to my puny guns) and chomped on a bike squad that had carelessly wandered too close. Before they even got to attack. Then survived 4 missiles and 2 Las-Cannons to the face.....
To go down to a Heavy Bolter. Oh, the ignominy....
On the bright side, Helldrakes still eat squads (in two phases - curse you vector strike!)
After seeing four AA missiles bounce off a passing Helldrake, the tactical squad meltagunner decides to show them how it is done... 6 by 6 by 6! Scratch one HellDrake.
The next turn, the missile gunners were obviously impressed, because they repeated the trick..
Enfeeble + Haemorrhage = A big mess of the Emperors finest..
We called the game after Chaos turn three, Wazdak feeling he was no longer in position to contest the game. He still had his plague marines, sorcerer and Great Unclean One in the fight and the lord, lone cultist and Nurglings milled about in his back field. Unfortunately I still had the majority of my firepower, having only really lost the bikes and 3 of the 4 special weapon squads.
However, when we totaled it up it came to 6 all! I think the game would have rested in my next shooting phase. If I could have taken off the Great Unclean One and the cultist, I think I had the win, so it was probably a fair call.
Overall, I had some good luck with damage results on the HellDrakes - I don't really have an answer to them, and they're so devastating. The new space marine book seems fairly solid - you can certainly fit a lot more in. And re-rolling 1's always helps!
Prospero: He's arrived! Ahriman has at last joined the ranks of my Thousand Sons.
As befits someone of his stature, I decided to mount him on a bit of wrecked dreadnought for a bit of extra height. Should hopefully have started painting during the next week.
Totaltyke: My hopes of having 5 Terminators finished this weekend have been severely hampered as Grandfather Nurgle has gifted me with one of his poxes. I did manage 1.... Perhaps he has mistaken the Deathwing for Deathguard? More pics next week.
