Hello all,
Hope you had another fun and eventful week in wargaming. For me not so much, had a bit of burn out at the start of the week. However the last few days have been fast paced painting of Orks (still of the Space Crusade Variety.) I have been watching a lot of videos from a speed painter on YouTube about painting with washes (Miguel Garcia Fernandez HeroQuest Series). The skin and shoulder pads have been painted with washes after a zenithal undercoat (kinda, probably too much white for that term). Once I decided on the rest of the colours for the Ork's clothing (Thanks for the Suggestion from my close friends Spud and Adam). Also from a meme about a stealthy Ork wearing purple... This is what I came up with:
Amazing the difference one colour makes to the look of a project, going from looking very unfinished to looking almost ready for the table. The boots were also painted using washes (although I think I might need to add another layer of Nuln Oil to them. Lastly for now some Leadbelcher for the metallic parts.
So until next week here is the last WIP shot of the unit:
Thanks
Dan (DeathBringa) Cain.

Whats up Wednesday #024
Welcome to another weekly ramble through my wargaming life...
This week it has been very quiet in my man cave as I haven't really had the energy to continue with any of my projects. I did however have chance to root through my supply of unbuilt miniatures and kinda plan a warband for King's of War Vanguard.
These are the miniatures I'm going use.
I was also lucky enough to have some time to play a few games this week. So I decided to go back to my wargaming roots and broke out some Space Crusade.
It even inspired me to get some old models onto my painting desk...
So that's me done for another week...

What's up Wednesday #023
Hello all,
What it's been another week in wargaming and I've been rather busy. I've had a case of shiny syndrome and instead of painting the air speeders I have painted the Wookies. The fact that I had five bases ready to use could have something to do with it. Although I have only got one base ready.
Not content with the mounting pile of minis I already have, I took a trip to my local game store that I've never been to before Leodis games. It was a bit of a strange place with no clear staff member no they didn't seem to be a obvious place to pay for minis. although with the store being only 10 minutes away it seems like a very good place for supplies on the odd cheeky miniature. So I treated myself...
So now I have a bag full of bases to do so I'd best crack out the air drying clay and get started, see you next week.
Thanks

What's up Wednesday #022
But it hasn't just been a week of tidying... I decided to go to Vapnartak in York and try and sell a few things...
As you can see it was quite a good day of selling and I managed to come away from the event with a small profit and some new units for Star Wars Legion. So I got myself a unit of Wookies and some Rebel Commandos. I even found time to build and prime them (I even base coated the Wookies).
But wait there's more. As the I got the main body colour done on the Air Speeders, just needs some panel lines doing to break it all up...
That's all for this week, hopefully they will look a bit more colourful this time next week.
Thanks

Painting Update - Part 6
More from the Tyranids this time, with the Exocrine nearing completion, as you can see below.
All that needs doing now is the gloss varnish on the bone / armour plates and flock etc on the base. Hoping to get that done soon and will be posting the result when it is.
That's all for today,
Prospero

Painting Update - Part 4
Just a quick one for today, the man himself... Typhus!
Painting this model has been an ambition for some time now, although whether he'll see much use in games is another thing. Couldn't resist though!
This one is very much still a work in progress, as every time I look at him I see an area I would like to improve, or make look even dirtier!

Painting Update - Part 3
Time for another look at the Nurgle project! This time, the first Havoc squad. This is one of two identically armed squads, with 4 autocannons in each.
The autocannons are from the Forge World pack, which look very impressive lined up on a gaming table! The points cost for such a unit is very cheap too, and they've been doing well in all the games I've used them in.
Finally, the whole squad. I've gone for a slightly less grimy and corroded look with this squad, as opposed to my approach with Plague Marines - who will be making an appearance at some point in the future.
That's all for now. Until next time...

Painting Update - Part 2
Time for another painting update, and more Nurgle bikers. First up, the squad champion.
The power scythe was made from the handle of a large power axe and a plasticard blade. I decided to have this bike rearing up on one wheel as it looked more impressive that way when I was gluing it together. The champion's body was another from the Forge World Plague Marine upgrade set.
Next up, a squad member with melta gun. This was also the first model I tried the rust effect on.
And finally, a shot of the whole squad. The only things left to finish are the bases. For these, I want to go for a red 'mars' effect. Any suggestions would be welcomed! An attempt at this can be seen on part of the champion's base, but I'm not sure whether I like how it turned out.
As usual, comments are welcome, either here or on our Facebook page. That's all for now,
Prospero

Painting Update
It has been quite a while since I last posted anything, and there have been lots of projects underway during that time! Over the next couple of weeks, I'll be going through the (many) things I've been working on.
So lets start with my Nurgle Chaos Space Marines. These were started over 2 years ago, but this is the first time I've shown any here. First up is the Lord on bike.
The body is from the Forge World Plague Marine set, but with a head-swap as I felt he'd do better at issuing orders without his jaw hanging off! This did however leave a fleshy lump on his neck, which I decided to leave and simply paint it to look sore / diseased.
The back-banner was a spare from a standard squad box, with the pole supporting it made from a bit of sprue.
With this army, I have been practising painting rust. The new(ish) technical paints have been a great help with this, and I've been pretty pleased with the results!
Well, that's it for now, but there's much more coming over the next few days / weeks. As usual, let us know what you think in the comments or on our facebook page!

Stormtalon Update
So, I've been hard at work on the Stormtalon for my Imperial Fists. The vehicle itself is now finished, with the metal areas tidied up and given a black wash (and some brown round the engine area). I also used pale yellow drybrushing paint for the edge highlights, which I am very pleased with. Here is the finished result:
Also, some of the internal details / work done on the pilot.
As usual, comments welcome! That's all for now,

Sternguard WIP
So, here are the new Sternguard I've been working on for my Imperial Fists. They are intended as extra to increase an existing squad to 10 men. As such, there are no combi-weapons on any of these - however, I couldn't resist doing something special for their guns.
Forge World all the way! It was important that these looked different to the bulk of my army, which is why I used the Mk4 armour set, along with the special bolters.

I'm currently undecided about whether to add all the ammo pouches, grenades and holstered bolt pistols to these models, though I did do this to the other Sternguard I built - this may be the deciding factor - Let me know in the comments whether you think this would be a good idea.
Well, that's it for now - please feel free to leave a comment below - the feedback is always appreciated! Check out our Facebook page for a few extra pictures I couldn't fit in here.

Stormtalon WIP
Just a quick update today with a couple of WIP images of my Imperial Fists Stormtalon. All the major work is done now, and its time for tidying up and small details.
As always, comments are welcome. I'm hoping to be back soon with another update, and some other interesting stuff I'm currently working on. Stay tuned...

Dispatches from the front: week 6 - Actually on time! Winner.
Creidhnan: Apologies for the delay last week, obviously my blood sacrifice was deemed insufficient by the almighty Ne Twor Krail...
Let's get straight to the pictures (and handily avoid noticing that I've done no actual work myself...)!

Dispatches from the front: week 5 - Delayed by Chaos
Hello all,
Creidhnan has been waylaid by the powers of chaos, so I have chipped in to collate the progress of the 11th Legion this week (Hence why its late).
I have completed another episode in VLOG Road to Blog Wars, this time with a basing tutorial (if you can call it that) for my now completed (spoilers) WraithGuard:
TotalTyke hosted games night last week and it was Creidhnan to play Wazdak in preparation for blog wars.
So it was 1850 points a side below is a brief Battle Report by Creidhnan:
Creidhnan: This week I had a quick game using the new Space Marine Codex, against Wazdak and his Nurgle Chaos.
Rough lists!
Space Marines (Imperial/Crimson Fists)
Pedro Kantor
Chaos Space Marines (with Chaos Daemon allies)
Chaos Lord (Nurgle)
2x Helldrakes with Baleflamer (ulp!)
Daemon prince, wings, Psyker (level 2?)
High(/low?)lights:
Thunderfire cannon eats squads - especially when you finally figure out how the barrage rules work!
The Daemon Prince made himself toughness 8 (immune to my puny guns) and chomped on a bike squad that had carelessly wandered too close. Before they even got to attack. Then survived 4 missiles and 2 Las-Cannons to the face.....
To go down to a Heavy Bolter. Oh, the ignominy....
On the bright side, Helldrakes still eat squads (in two phases - curse you vector strike!)
After seeing four AA missiles bounce off a passing Helldrake, the tactical squad meltagunner decides to show them how it is done... 6 by 6 by 6! Scratch one HellDrake.
The next turn, the missile gunners were obviously impressed, because they repeated the trick..
Enfeeble + Haemorrhage = A big mess of the Emperors finest..
We called the game after Chaos turn three, Wazdak feeling he was no longer in position to contest the game. He still had his plague marines, sorcerer and Great Unclean One in the fight and the lord, lone cultist and Nurglings milled about in his back field. Unfortunately I still had the majority of my firepower, having only really lost the bikes and 3 of the 4 special weapon squads.
However, when we totaled it up it came to 6 all! I think the game would have rested in my next shooting phase. If I could have taken off the Great Unclean One and the cultist, I think I had the win, so it was probably a fair call.
Overall, I had some good luck with damage results on the HellDrakes - I don't really have an answer to them, and they're so devastating. The new space marine book seems fairly solid - you can certainly fit a lot more in. And re-rolling 1's always helps!
Prospero: He's arrived! Ahriman has at last joined the ranks of my Thousand Sons.
As befits someone of his stature, I decided to mount him on a bit of wrecked dreadnought for a bit of extra height. Should hopefully have started painting during the next week.
Totaltyke: My hopes of having 5 Terminators finished this weekend have been severely hampered as Grandfather Nurgle has gifted me with one of his poxes. I did manage 1.... Perhaps he has mistaken the Deathwing for Deathguard? More pics next week.

HELP for HEROES 'Salamanders' Objective Markers (Plus competition)
Hi all,
Dan (DeathBringa) Cain here,
Just thought I would show you all my small contribution to the HELP for HEROES 'Salamanders' army.
its a set of bespoke objective markers I have had commissioned by my friend at Basecrafts home for everything you need to make you bases pop with that extra bit of detail.
I have had a few sets of these made and I was feeling generous so I thought I would give a set away (on top of the one for the'Help for Heroes' set). Now this set will be as you see in the video below, so they will need painting.
So how do I enter? I hear you all cry... It's very simple (like me).
In order to enter I need you to do two things:
1) Hit the 'Like' button on the above video.
2) drop me a comment (on YouTube) so I know who has entered.
Its that simple. Now I was aiming for 20 likes, or the Start of November (which happens first) and then I will chose one of you at random to be the winner.
Thanks
